Macron Begins Japan’s Three-Day Visit Amid Middle East Conflict Concerns

(MENAFN) French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday began a three-day visit to Japan, with discussions expected to focus heavily on the economic consequences of the ongoing Middle East conflict.

Macron and his wife Brigitte arrived at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport amid rain and strong winds, according to a state broadcaster.

This marks Macron’s fourth official visit to Japan as president. Shortly after arriving, he met with several cultural figures, including writers and editors.

He is scheduled to meet Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Wednesday and will also have an audience with Emperor Naruhito.

The French presidential office stated that Iran-related issues will be central to his talks with Takaichi. France and Japan have both pledged to take “all necessary measures” to maintain stability in global energy markets.

In addition, France seeks to expand collaboration with Japan on economic security and other strategic areas.

Macron will remain in Japan until April 2, after which he is scheduled to travel to South Korea.
